A complete medical evaluation is the cornerstone in your treatment. It is important to have a Doctor of Medicine perform a complete medical evaluation of your pain or illness. Without the correct medical diagnosis, your treatment will not be as successful.
On your initial visit with our physiatrists, you will receive a very comprehensive medical investigation regarding your symptoms. As medical specialists, they are uniquely trained in the study of muscle, nerve and joint diseases and can provide you with the proper diagnosis. They are specially trained in Electrodiagnostic studies which can help in the diagnostic process. They are trained in the study of the human biomechanics, and by physical examination, can figure out muscle and joint imbalances and weaknesses that can cause or aggravate your condition. More importantly, as doctors of medicine, they can recognize physical signs of any serious underlying medical condition.
The entire medical evaluation will include the initial interview and review of all previous medical records. A thorough physical examination will follow. Our physiatrists will then determine if you need more laboratory, imaging and Electrodiagnostic studies to confirm a diagnosis of your condition. Once a diagnosis is made, your treatment will proceed in earnest, insuring faster, more efficient use of your time.
