Stroke Rehabilitation
Physicians Center of Physical Medicine offers a multidisciplinary approach to the rehabilitation of stroke patients. Our physiatrists head a multidisciplinary team which includes the patient, family members, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, social workers, neuro-psychologists and vocational counselors. We help stroke patients reintegrate successfully into their homes, communities and work.
Dr. Visser was the first physiatrist in Kalamazoo and he organized and directed the first in-patient rehabilitation program in Kalamazoo County. Dr. Pareigis continued the tradition by becoming the first physiatrist and medical director of an in-patient rehabilitation unit in Berrien County. She continues to be the medical director of that hospital-based program. Dr. Guerrero was the first physiatrist and medical director of an in-patient rehabilitation program in St. Joseph County. Dr. Muzlakovich served as the only Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation consultant for an in-patient rehabilitation hospital in Calhoun County.
In the area of Stroke Rehabilitation, our physiatrists have 66 years of hospital and out-patient rehabilitation experience covering four counties of Southwest Michigan. They can help you or your loved ones deal and cope with stroke.
